India finished fourth in the Commonwealth Games 2026 ((July 23 -August 2) with 39 medals including 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze. The medal tally of India is reasonably good in the latest Commonwealth games in comparison of its past performances given its significantly reduced participation. India did not participate in some of its traditionally strong areas including wrestling, badminton, table tennis, hockey and shooting.

The most notable Indian star performers in the Commonwealth Games 2026 included Mirabai Chanu, Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh. Mirabai Chanu won a gold medal in weightlifting, marking her third successive Commonwealth Games title. Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh secured India’s first-ever gold medals in judo at the Commonwealth Games.Another remarkable highlight was the Boxing Contingent’s unprecedented win of 7 gold medals. Boxing spearheaded India’s campaign with a record 10 medals, including an unprecedented seven golds – the most won by any nation in the sport at a single Commonwealth Games. In a notable feat for a small town in Haryana, Bhiwani delivered five gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, led by champions Sakshi Chaudhary (boxing women’s 51 kg category), Preeti Pawar (boxing women’s 54 kg category), and Jaismine Lamboria (boxing women’s 57 kg category), Priya Ghanghas (:boxing women’s 60 kg category) and Sachin Siwach:(gold in the men’s 60 kg category).
